Creating a 2004 School Plan – A Manual
Send everyone who pledges to vote a reminder on Election
Eve
Every student who collects voter pledges on the Take Ten Forms
is asked to give the Pledge Counter a copy but to hold on to the
completed forms – so that they have the email and phone information
to use to send everyone who pledged to vote to them a reminder to
vote right before the Election.
The Leadership Team should have designated one student volunteer
to be sure that the Election Eve reminder program happens. Some
of the steps that person might take include:
- An announcement at a student assembly (or announcements over
the PA system on the Thursday and/or Friday before the Election)
that students who collected pledges should be sending reminders
over the weekend or on Monday at the latest.
- Organized visits to every homeroom the week before the election
to encourage all pledge collectors to send their reminders and
an explanation as to how to do it.
- Messages in the school newspaper about the importance of every
pledge collector contacting their pledgors – and how to
do it.
The web site will provide helpful tools: A sample email card (coming
soon!) that they may address to pledgors who left their email address
for a reminder; and a sample telephone script (coming soon!) for
calls to pledgors who left a phone number to call. (It is an ample
reminder to call and leave a message on a recording device if the
pledgor is not available.)
All those adults who pledged to vote on the web site itself and
left an email for an Election Eve reminder will receive an automatic
Freedom’s Answer email message.
Those who pledged to vote on the web site and left a phone number
requesting a phone reminder, will have their numbers given to the
students of the Freedom’s Answer Advisory Council of the state
of their area code – and will receive a student follow-up
call in a manner determined by the state Advisory Council students.
